From the google group again

Before the resettlement began, there was debate among Bhutanese in exile whether the movement for justice, human rights and democracy will continue. One group said, it will vanish while others said it will get a new height.

The discussion is at the google group again on this subject. Some supporting it while others rejecting. But I was desperate from some responses, from seniors.

Parshuram Luitel sent an open letter suggesting a day when Bhutanese in exile can demonstrate worldwide against the injustice and human rights violations in Bhutan – of the 1990s and still continuing. I salute his noble mission and spirit to fight against the Bhutanese suppression. Additionally, I support his notion for not involving any political groups in these demos. For obvious reasons, involvement of political groups into such demons will lead to termination of the demo participants from their job.

In response, Deo Sharma wrote which are unacceptable for me, at least. Earlier, it was Mr Sharma who advocated for an armed rebellion in Bhutan if justice has to be achieved and it was through his post that division was seen in the group. Now, here he says, we should no more regard ourselves as Bhutanese but merge with the Nepalese communities. Very sorry to read it, filthy idea almost. I wonder, why he resettled there as Bhutanese and why not as Nepalese. I hope, he has already achieved something of the kind that makes him loyal to Nepal.

He said ten whole years of his life he spent in struggle. I laughed at his statement. He was a staff at Caritas Nepal and nowhere had I observed him talking about movement, repatriation. I don’t know if he held close-door meetings with Caritas staffs in Damak on these subjects. Finally, he said he will no more join the struggle after being resettled.

Thanks. I suggest him to get out of the googlegroup as well because, I per my learning, this group is for discussion among Bhutanese and those willing to continue their fight against discrimination in Bhutan.

Govinda Rizal from Kyoto has cocktail view. He criticized Deo Sharma but did not give a solid answer from his side as well. Though he said Deo broke trust of Luitel, I think, Govinda himself has done it in some instances. Rizal, who marries a Nepalese girl, also said it was the greater realization on part of Deo that resettled Bhutanese would gradually turn into Nepalese Diaspora.
To explain your conclusion that struggle could be continued had there been at least 1000 people repatriated, I would say, this will certainly happen. Don’t start to be Nepalese from today.

Mr Rizal is not clear in himself about politicization of the demos abroad. At the beginning he said: “I also feel it is not advisable to appear Bhutanese politicians in some countries. The first thing is a job for income. Second is its sustainability. Many companies do not hire politicians and political activists for jobs. We must not make our people participate in rallies which make them loose their opportunity to honorable living.”

But later he opposed the idea of not involving any political groups in these demons: He said

“Nonsense!!!!!!!!If we try this jigme doctrine on political parties and their cadres, we are still in his coccon. No program succeeds without the blessing of political parties. More parties bless, more success rains. So instead of apolitical please change your concept to all- political.”
Give your clear thought please!

Rizal also opposed Luitel’s idea of wearing Gho and Kira this January end when Australian government will provide him citizenship. I appreciate.. Go ahead. Wish you all the best.

Because non-members cannot see what is being discussed in the group, my effort to reach the message to all concerned will continue. Yesterday, Nini Gurung from UNHCR Kathmandu called me and said, where do you get all these information from? I just said: sources. She seems to be interested to articles about current Bhutan politics but at the end, she talked about the google group discussion.

But be sure, I will put my scissors to cut down all important and personal details on the emails at the google group. I know, this is censorship on freedom of expression. Still I think this is required.

To end, I suggest my friends, don’t loose hope for justice in Bhutan, if not for you, it will be for your relatives. Like the west, don’t be so much individualist – ours is not a society of that kind.
