Poland-Bhutan Friendship

Queen Mother Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck on May 25 took part in the official inauguration of the Poland-Bhutan Friendship Society.

While in Poland, she is also promoting the Polish language edition of her book – Of Rainbows and Clouds. The book contains the biography of her father Yab Ugyen Dorji.

She will also visit the Old Town, the Royal Castle, the Frederic Chopin Museum and the Warsaw Rising Museum while in Warsaw. It’s her informal visit as part of the Bhutanese government’s silent policy to expand bilateral relations.

After revising the 1949 Treaty with India in 2007, Bhutan has rapidly expanded bilateral relations with many countries through diplomatic missions or informal visits and friendship unions. Until the revision of the treaty, Bhutan had to seek Indian permission for starting bilateral relations.
