Internet disconnected me from my blog
Don’t blame only Asia for being backward in technologies and service deliveries. Despite being aware of the difficult terrain and land forms in our region and absence of capital, we South Asians feel our countries of being too much backward in technologies and services. A year in Australia, one of the developed nations in the world, convinced me that South Asian countries do not really lack like we project.
My readers might be curious about absence of regular posts here for last few days. It was all due to absence of internet. I subscribe to Virgin Mobile internet which is terribly worst at coverage. Small pockets of settlement remain out of wi-fi internet service. In several cases, even the internet networks do not work well. I have received complaints from many residents in Salisbury where Optus network is almost absence. There is no possibility of getting better service either from Vodafone or 3Mobile.
I checked with virgin network coverage. My area here is well covered, according to the company’s claim. That’s not true. For ¾ of every month, remain out of internet connection. I have to wait hours and hours to write an email, visit website or upload a blog. I had not experienced such terribly annoying glitches even in Nepal though internet service in Kathmandu was slow.
Not all houses here are connected internet and telephone lines. In one of my relative’s house, I tried with TPG, Optus and Telstra companies for internet and telephone, none could provide the service. Installing lines for these services cost hundreds – beyond we afford.
I switched to new service provider and hope to get regular internet, if not the best. I hope not to travel anymore down to Underdale to Bikram’s office to see what’s in my inbox or download files. This will mean, I will have added features to upload photos, files and other media contents to add to my blog. Yet it needs another few days.
The level at which visitors are increasing to my blog added immense pleasure to me to write more and fuelled in me the feelings of being more responsible. I shall not turn deaf ear to what readers are saying. On the third month, I started to run this blog, though I have copied archived from my wordpress blogs started many years before, hits counter shows 33,436 people visited my blog this month. Thanks all.
