Ngultrum banned in Assam

Amid rupee crisis in Bhutan, the state government of Assam initiated to ban use of Bhutanese currency in the state

According to reports, there has been sharp rise in use of Ngultrum in Assam for business transaction and drafts. The Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan and Reserve Bank of India have taken this issue seriously.

Reports say, increasing use of Ngultrum in the state has posed threat to business, which led to the initiative to ban Ngultrum use.

The use of Bhutanese currency was in sharp rise among the businessmen there. It is claimed, the recent move has been welcomed by many, and most of them opine that the civil administration should carry out sudden checks in this regard to check the foreign currency use menace on Indian soil.
