Exiled Bhutanese in Beldangi on Tuesday warned of agitation if the Nepalese government fails to take up their demand of repatriation seriously.

They also accused the Nepalese government of being reluctant towards their past agitations which were also launched, in part, to pur pressure On Bhutan government for repatriation.

Organising a programme in Beldangi today, they said that they have all set to launch a protest programme to protect their rights. A team of Exiled Bhutanese had visited India some days ago to draw the attention of the Indian government there about the refugees’ issues.

Speaking at the programme Dr Bhampa Rai, Preside-nt of Bhutanese Refugees Repatriation Committee (BRRRC), said that they would launch protest programme on behalf of those refugees who do not want to migrate to the third countries.

According to him, the Indian leaders were positive about their demands. “Indian human rights activist Sailendra Kumar Arora suggested us to intensify agitation,” he said. Quoting Arora, Rai said, “Continue your peaceful agitation so that Bhutan will be compelled to address your demand.”

Bhutanese leader NB Giri said that it was very difficult to establish human rights in Bhutan. “Bhutan government is still taking action against its citizens when they talk of human rights issues,” he said, adding, “Nanda Lal Katwal has been kept in the Thimpu Jail as he had lead the repatriation agitation.”
