Filling up the vacuum left by his father, the son of former speaker, Jigme Tshultrim, 37, is standing for DPT from Radhi-Sakteng constituency.

He has a Bachelors degree in legal science from Mumbai law college, and is one of the founders of DPT and a member of the party’s Paro youth wing. Jigme Tshultrim also joined the militia in 2003 for operation “flush out” to fight against the militants.

Father Jigme Tshultim was convicted of corruption by the Mongar court.

Kinley Dorji, 61, resigned as Director of the Department of Human Resources under the Labour and Human Settlement Ministry to join politics. He also served as the Executive Director of Bhutan Narcotic Control Agency and also as the Director of Department of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Education from 2004 to 2006.

He has received a certificate of appreciation for his 33 years of dedicated service to the country from the chairman, royal civil service commission chairman.

He has a Masters in Educational Administration from the University of New England, NSW, Australia and a Bachelor of Arts from Punjab University, Chandigarh, India. He did his Indian Certificate of Secondary Examination from Sherubtse Public School, Kanglung in 1974.

She is trained in computer applications, office management, and computer accounting. She is one of the youngest and most confident candidates, who joined the family of Phuensum Tshogpa with a lot of vigor and zeal looking to the long term politics. She is a spinster.

Thinley Palden Dorji, 38, replaced former home minister Minjur Dorji, who has been convicted of corruption, as DPT candidate from Kanglung-Samkhar constituency.

With a degree in business administration from the European University in Belgium, he worked with Bhutan National Bank for five years, and then took over as the managing director of a private registered company. In 2009, he was elected as the vice president of the Bhutan chamber of commerce and industry.

For his contribution to the growth of private sector in Bhutan, he was accorded the honorary post of vice president of the SAARC chamber of commerce and industry in 2010. He is also the director of READ Bhutan, a non profit organisation since 2012.

He began his career in 1992 as Head of Marketing & Sales Dept, Bhutan Agro Industries, Head Customer Services, Bhutan Telecom in 2000, and joined UNDP in 2001 as Finance Officer, and resigned as Head Operations Manager in 2007 to join politics. He is specialized in operations, marketing, logistics/procurement and quality management. Lhatu has been awarded as Best Participate (Trade Fair), recipient of Outstanding Performance Award, Best Team of the year and Best Employee of the year Awards respectively between 2004 and 2006. He is married and they have three sons and a daughter.

Lyonpo Wangdi Norbu graduated from University of Western Australia with Bachelors of Economics in 1976. He has taken specialized mid-term trainings in finances including programming and policies at Public Accounts & Audit, London, and IMF Washington DC among others.

Lyonpo’s career has orbited unprecedented within the financial sector until he became the Minister in 2003. He has been Member, Vice-Chairman, Chairman and Governor of 34 different prestigious organizations, corporations, and IFIs. He has successfully concluded several negotiation meetings for large project financing and aid mobilizations with EU donor countries like Austria, Danish, Dutch, Switzerland, and others India, Japan, IFAD, IFIs, etc.

Among notably several outstanding achievements, a few are building prudential financial systems, developing financial acts, rules & procedures, developing professionalism (accountability, performance & reporting) and personnel system in finance, provision of tax and loan systems, several check and balance system were put in place through committees, and revamping of financial institutions. Lyonpo is the recipient of several awards; Red Scarf (Dasho) in 1998, letters and Kasho of appreciation from Cabinet, RCSC and HRH Trongsa Penlop, and Orange Scarf (Lyonpo) in 2003. Before he became the CEO of Institute of Management Studies (IMS), one of the premier private management institutes in the country, he was the Chief Labor Officer in the Department of Labor.

He has a Masters of Science in Agriculture Economics from University of London, UK and a BSc from Sherubtse College, Kanglung. He started his civil service career as a Planning Officer in the agriculture ministry in 1995.

Tenzin Lekphell was a militia officer in Royal Bhutan Army from 1990 to 1995.
